Iterative design process, starting with experimentation using geometric shapes reminiscent of classic PlayStation controller buttons as framing devices for each era. Initial drafts revealed composition and consistency challenges, but provided a foundation to refine the layout and enhance the retro-inspired, visually dynamic aesthetic.
The final timeline design centralized the composition, standardized the frame sizes, and adjusted the geometric shapes to have a consistent overlap with the console graphics. Adding date labels and a brick background texture grounded the retro aesthetic, while mellowing the color palette created a more cohesive, visually engaging snapshot of gaming history that educates viewers through an interactive, dynamic layout.
